Tuxtla Gutierrez is a Mexican city and municipality, capital of the State of Chiapas. It is the largest city, populated and urbanized state, besides being the most populous city in the southeast, so it is considered as the capital of the Mexican southeast. It is the main economic and political center of the entity.
Where is located
It is located southwest of the Mexican Republic, in the Gulf region and
southern Mexico. Bordered on the north by the State of Tabasco, on the south
by the Pacific Ocean and Guatemala, Guatemala to the east and west by
Veracruz and Oaxaca.
How to get there
Tuxtla Gutierrez communicates -85 km to the east, with the city of San
Cristobal de las Casas, the road No. 195. The city has a bus terminal where
transport lines operate Columbus, UNO, Maya Gold, OCC, ADO, Altos and
Transport Rodolfo Figueroa. It also offers the services of an international
airport, where flights arrive lines Mexicana, Aviacsa and Aerocaribe, from
Mexico City.

Things to do and see
On the outskirts of Tuxtla Gutierrez will visit the remains of one of the
most important ceremonial centers of the central region of Chiapas.
Chiapa de Corzo. It is located 17 km east of Tuxtla Gutierrez, the
federal highway no. 190. Here you will find the remains of an ancient Mayan
ceremonial center, consisting of a set of stone-lined platforms and double
pyramids with temples on top, indicating a high level in the administrative
system of the region. Open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 hrs.

Surcando el Sumidero.
Tuxtla Gutierrez leaving the road No.. 190, eastbound, will arrive in Chiapa
de Corzo, 17 miles away. In this place you can visit some of the most
representative architectural monuments such as the iconic Source Mudejar-shaped
chapel, built in the s. XVI, in addition to the Temple and former Convent of
Santo Domingo, Gothic-Renaissance style, with a basilica with three naves,
and remnants of wall paintings from the colonial era that can see inside.
Here you can also visit the Regional Museum of Lacquer, activity or
representative of the place, rent a boat and start a journey through the
Canyon of the Gully, one of the most breathtaking scenery in the country.
The tour lasts approximately 2 hrs. during which you will hear many stories
about the treasures found at the bottom of the Grijalva River and the
capricious natural formations observed in canyon walls, including the famous
"Christmas Tree." After traveling more than 20 km in length that has the
